Leo Lithium Limited has awarded the Mining Services contract for the Goulamina Lithium Project in Mali.

The contract, worth roughly $348 million, has been granted to Corica Mali, a subsidiary of Corica Mining Services. The deal includes six months of pre-production work at Goulamina Lithium Project, followed by a five-year term. The contract was won after a competitive tender process and extensive due diligence, with consideration given to safety, expertise, capabilities, equipment availability, and cost.

The contract’s scope includes grade control, drill and blast, load and haul, and plant ore feed services. Over the long run, the material transport aim is between 18 million and 20 million tonnes per year. Corica has already mobilised to the site under an early works contract and is presently performing pre-strip, Direct Shipped Ore (DSO), mining, and crushing services.

Corica has been working in the West African region for over 20 years and employs over 2,000 people. Corica now offers large-scale mining services to prominent ASX and TSX-listed mining companies across seven mining sites in Mali and bordering Côte d’Ivoire and Burkina Faso.

Adertisement

“We are delighted to appoint Corica as our mining services contractor following an intensive tender process. Corica has a long history and strong presence in Mali and will bring substantial local employment and supplier opportunities to the region,” Leo Lithium Managing Director Simon Hay said.

“With the mining contractor now in place, Leo Lithium has taken another major step towards realising its target of first spodumene concentrate production in H1 2024. We look forward to working with Corica over the long term, commencing with DSO activities this quarter,” Hay added.
